There is a goldfish pond in the middle of this square within a temple complex in Shanghai. In its heyday Cheng Huang Miao housed the town gods that looked after the fortunes of the city and judged the souls of the dead. Now it's a tourist souvenir market, with a Starbucks to boot, no less.
